Ron was the first person ever to be on both the Indoor and outdoor councils.
He was President of the Scottish Indoor Bowling Association in 2015/2016 and is in line to be President of Bowls Scotland in 2021. He is the current chair of the Scottish Bowls Umpires Committee and he is heavily involved in coaching,particularly Para Bowls.
